Mental Health & Psychosocial Support

Healing Minds, Strengthening Communities

Group and individual psychosocial support for survivors of trauma, violence, and crisis.

MHPSS

Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) is a broad range of services designed to protect and promote mental health and well-being. Sajha Dhago provides MHPSS to individuals and communities experiencing psychological distress from violence, displacement, disaster, and other crises.

Our MHPSS services include group support, individual counseling, psychoeducation, and referrals, delivered by trained facilitators and counselors in community settings.

Mental Health First Aid Training

Sajha Dhago also delivers Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) training to community workers and partner organizations. In partnership with RHEST, we trained 77 participants across four clusters—building capacity to recognize mental health issues and offer first-line support, especially in communities affected by trafficking and gender-based violence.

How it works?

MHPSS services are tailored to the needs of each community and may include:

  • Group psychosocial support sessions
  • Individual counseling and emotional support
  • Psychoeducation on trauma, stress, and healthy coping
  • Orientation on mental health issues and gender-based violence
  • Referrals to specialized mental health services when needed

What Changes with MHPSS?

Participants gain:

  • Understanding of their mental health experiences and symptoms
  • Skills for managing stress and emotional distress
  • Connection to supportive peers and professionals
  • Reduced stigma and increased willingness to seek help

Who is this for?

  • Survivors of sexual and gender-based violence
  • Communities affected by natural disasters and conflict
  • Individuals experiencing depression, anxiety, PTSD, and other mental health challenges
  • Vulnerable women, youth, and LGBTIQA+ community members
