Bibhu Thapaliya

Executive Director

Bibhu has over a decade of experience in Nepal’s social development sector, working at the intersection of research, policy, and practice. Her work is grounded in qualitative methodologies, with a strong focus on social justice principles. She has led and contributed to national and sub-national studies on gender equality and social inclusion (GESI)-responsive programming, inequalities in labour migration, gender based violence, human trafficking, and maternal health. She has experience in planning, implementing, coordinating, and monitoring girls’ education and disaster response programs funded both bilaterally and multilaterally, within NGO and INGO settings. Her recent work involves developing a GESI framework and suggesting safeguarding mechanisms in a large-scale Nepal-based project. She has been a visiting faculty member at the Department of Development Studies in Kathmandu University, where she taught Gender, Inclusion, and Ethnicity at the graduate level. Additionally, she has delivered training sessions on GESI, gender-based violence, and qualitative research methods and skills for development professionals, researchers, and partner organizations.

She holds an MA in Gender Studies from SOAS, University of London, and an MA in Development Studies from Kathmandu University. At Sajha Dhago, her work spans policy development, feminist organizational governance, fund raising, and resource mobilization to strengthen the organization’s mission of trauma healing through gender justice approach.
